Biografía

Isabel Mesa Vega, Pianista (Cuba, 1985)
Isabel Mesa Vega (Guantanamo, Cuba, 1985). Her musical gifts were developed from an early age, thanks to the influence of her family where culture and music were present constantly. Her musical training began at the Vocational School Regino Eladio Boti Art in her hometown under the guidance of Professor Francis Gardner and continued elementary level at the José María Ochoa Conservatory in the city of Holguin with Professor Julia Maria Barrientos. Then, she continued her studies as a pupil of Ana Maria Mena and Miriam Cruz in the National School of Music and was nominated among the best graduates of 2004.

In 2009 she graduated with Gold Title from University of Arts (ISA), consolidating her performance studies under the tutelage of Danae Ulacia in Piano Major, who described Isabel as “a student with an outstanding musical trajectory” also studied with Maria Victoria del Collado in chamber music and Maria Antonia Mayans in Collaborative Piano Accompaniment.

In recent years, Isabel began to stand out in important competitions receiving several  awards, First Prize at  the fourth edition of the Latin American Piano Competition (2004) and the Grand Prize of Musicalia Chamber Music Competition (2008) with the clarinetist Jany Serrate; and other events where she was distinguished by her interpretation of Cuban music and
Latin American Music.

"She possesses a great musicality, accompanied by remarkable technical gifts on the piano as well as a fine sensibility, "says by her teacher Danae Ulacia as a referral. Thanks to her knowledge of a strong national and international repertoire she has been invited on several occasions to the Contemporary Music Festival in Havana and Jazz Plaza Festival, side by side with distinguished musician José Luis Cortés. She also has performed in the main theaters and famous Cuban stages.
Collaborations of this nature have enriched her career through projects with other musicians as conductor Zenaida Castro Romeu, Antonio Pedroso and Roberto Valera; as well as the professional advice of outstanding musicians as Antonio Carbonell, Yleana Bautista, Roberto Urbay, Cecilio Tiel, Georg Fedorenko, Zenaida Romeu and Jorge Rotter.

Meanwhile she spread her career as a performer, she also developed her teaching vocation, which includes ten years as a piano teacher at the National School of Music and three years in the University of Arts as a collaborative Pianist of the Clarinet studio. Currently she is a member of the Antonio Maria Romeu Artistic Contracting Company and also a member of the Hermanos Saiz Association.

After several years out of Cuba, Isabel Mesa mark her return to the national scenarios with four performances in 2015. Her dedication and study of the Cuban and Latin American music of the nineteenth and XX centuries (for whom she feels a special predilection) opens a new stage that invigorates her career and repertoire with a profound interpretation and respect for indigenous roots of our music. Between the 2015 presentations stand the solo piano concert in the
Minor Basilica St. Francis of Assisi on September 30 2015, and the performance of the Concerto No. 2 in G minor op.22 for piano and orchestra by Camille Saint-Saens as a guest soloist
by Holguin Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Orestes Saavedra celebrating the 15th anniversary of  that prestigious symphonic group.
